While many other sites list nearly all submitted software, they only take the best ... and this is, what they say: "If your application receives a three-, four-, or five-cow rating, congratulations! As you'll see by reading the Ratings Guide, this is no small feat. You are in the company of some of the best programmers in the world. We receive hundreds of requests each week for inclusion in the Tucows library. The fact that you scored in the three-cow range or higher has earned you a spot on our site. This is a sign that your product is among the best of its kind." - Well, thanks!

The Courier Mail from Australia is a newsletter about IT and other news and reviews. Two weeks ago, they wrote this about 1-abc.net:
[...] The original Pong and Snake are long gone but nostalgia buffs may care to have a play with versions recreated by 1-abcnet for modern computers as Powerpong and Powersnake. These are just as irritating -- and addictive -- as their grandparents.
Powersnake, in particular, is likely to see your computer snaffled by teens and young adults who routinely lodge huge scores on their mobile phone versions of the game. They may not find it quite so easy on PC because the game uses mouse controls. The reflexes required are just as fast so anyone wanting to demonstrate superiority to their juniors should give themselves lots of practice time.In case you've forgotten, the idea is to "eat" the blob with the snake, which grows every time until (if you're good enough) the tail fills the screen.
Both it and Powerpong start very slowly but keep accelerating until they're lightning fast. You can save a game high score list and Powersnake has colour settings and extra keyboard control for those who want to forget the mouse for a few minutes.
Don't be disappointed at the basic graphics because the games have been designed to look like the originals. You wouldn't want to revisit your youth with something too modern, would you? [...]

Yesterday Scott from freewarearena.org posted this review about 1-abc.net Powerpong on the Lockergnome Network ...
{Game} The game developers of today really pull out all the stops when they craft the latest games, but sometimes it is fun to revisit the 'olden days' of gaming. A good example of this would be the classic Pong, which has been nicely reworked using Windows XP styling in the form of Powerpong from 1-abc.net software It features a savable high score list. Now what you have to ask yourself is: is that really old time arcade like, or what? Just bear in mind that what may seem to be a simplistic game to modern gamers actually takes downright fast reflexes to master. So go old school; get out your flat rectangular racket and have a hand at Powerpong!
... which resulted in about 2,500 additional downloads.
2004, April 22nd
Another 5-star award for 1-abc.net Powerpong from PopularShareware.com.
2004, April 12th
Powerpong 1.1 released! New in this version: savable high score list and minor improvements.
Furtherly there are new translations of some older articles on the swedish website of the First Publishing Group. Thanks to Ingrid for translating again ...
"Simple version of the game 'Snake' (Powersnake 2.0)
The classical snake is a game that became famous again since there is a market for cell phone mobile games. This one is a simple version of the game for your PC. The artwork is not very impressive, but it's fun anyway and a special feature of this version is that you can try to control your snake with your mouse. Causes addiction!"
"Snake - simple and good! (Powersnake 2.1)
Snake is an ancient game idea and the game is bundled with most cell phones, palms and other equipment. The more you eat the longer the snake grows - and the harder it is to control it. I personally like the real purity in this game, this one really is a classical snake game. Many snake clones are overloaded with bananas, additional snakes, barriers, water and flying toasters. Simply too many additional thigs - Powersnake is snake and nothing more than snake!"
2004, March 18th
Version 2.0 only got 3 points from 5, version 2.1 got 4 points from 6 ... and now version 2.2 of 1-abc.net Powersnake got 5 from 6 on the worldwide freeware download pages of nonags.com. Awards from this website are like a real competition ... and I'm sure that there will be 6 points for the next version :-)

The Swedish website of the First Publishing Group wrote about 1-abc.net Powerpong:
"1-abc developes and distributes new versions from classical games. The latest one of them is Powerpong, which is of course another version of the old game Pong. Pong has been one of the first TV games ever and the main goal is to keep a ball in the air using a racquet. The artwork has never been so good that the ball could look like a real ball - and in this version it also does not."
... which inspired many Swedish people to download the game. (Thanks to Ingrid for translating)
2004, February 20th
